Potty Training and Night Feedings

So what have these two cute faces been up to lately?

Mama D and PawPaw house-sat for a friend who lives in a beautiful house with a pool on the May River so we spent a lot of time over there.  Every time that Callie goes to the pool she gets a little bit more comfortable.  At the beginning of the summer she was a little apprehensive and just wanted to play in the shallow end or on the stairs with her buckets.  She can sit for an hour and just fill up her buckets with water.

Cade is going to be Mommy's little boy.  He loves to hold my hand!

On one of the rainy days this month, Amanda and I took Callie and Brantley to Island Playground.  The big kids were a little intimidating, but Callie found a kitchen set that she loved.  She is getting one for her birthday from Aunt Debbie so I'm sure that will be a new favorite thing to play with soon!

Bryan's family, Aunt LaLa, Justin, Auntie Em, and Devin all came down for a weekend and we loaded up the car and headed to the beach.  It is amazing how much stuff is required to take 2 children to the beach for an afternoon!  We all decided that we need a wagon.  Cade did great and took a little nap under the umbrella.

We had a big cookout for Bryan's 28th birthday.  The highlight of his night was that he got to wakeboard.  Callie did not like him riding behind the jet ski, but when he tried to flip and fell, she threw her head back and laughed!  And now, four weeks later, we are still hearing about "Daddy boat boom hahaha".

Callie Grace loves her Daddy!

We got Callie a new booster seat and she loves to sit up at the table and draw.  She is getting to be so grown up!  This was a picture she drew for Daddy and it is now hanging on the fridge.

Callie is starting to interact more with Cade and he loves every minute of it!  I was packing one morning for one of our trips and hear Callie saying "Hey LaLa, Hey Emi!"  I turned around and saw that she was trying to let Cade talk to her aunts.  And he was just smiling!

Callie also loves to help feed Cade.  Sometimes she just pulls the bottle out of his mouth, but most of the time she is very gentle and a good helper.  (And you know Bryan likes to snuggle with both of them!)

Bryan had his 10 year high school reunion this month, so we loaded both of the kids and Bear in the car and headed to Hartsville.  The reunion was not what Bryan hoped it would be, but we still had a good time.

Callie had fun playing in the pool and swimming with Daddy.

MeMa got to meet Cade for the first time!

On Sunday, Bryan and I took Cade home and Callie stayed in Hartsville with GiGi and Big Daddy.  We completely forgot about Bear so he got to stay at the grandparents for a few extra days too!  We felt pretty bad but I'm sure he had a great time.

Callie kept up with her normal routine - oatmeal for breakfast every morning!

She was so excited to see that Big Daddy had built her a "wing" in the backyard.  GiGi and Big Daddy had to take her out there multiple times every day.  And baby Emma had to swing also.  :)

While she was staying with GiGi and Big Daddy, Callie got to go see Elmo live in Florence.  She enjoyed it for about 5 minutes, but when the characters came off the stage and into the audience, she was not a fan!  So they had to leave early and instead went to get fro yo.  And you know she loved that!

When she finally came back home (only 3 days later) I was so excited to see her!

Earlier in the month, Aunt Jamie was able to come down for a day and meet Cade.  We are so glad she got to come!

The second week of June Bryan and I decided it was time to potty train Callie.  The first three days were pretty miserable.  She cried everytime she sat on the potty and I was cleaning up the floor several times every day.  Then, on Wednesday night, she finally went and it seemed to click!  There were a few more tears and a few more accidents, but every day was better.

After about a week, she was completely potty trained!  When we to lunch on Friday, we got a cookie to celebrate and let her know how proud of her we were.  She still has a few accidents in the car every now and then.  We took three trips the week after we started potty training (Hartsville, Santee, and Atlanta), so I think wearing pull ups on the road trips made things a little confusing.  But she will get it!

Cade is getting bigger every day.  He still gets up around 4 or 5 every night and is hungry about half of the time.  He will sleep again until about 8.  I know that I technically get about 7 hours of sleep, but I am looking forward to the day when that is uninterrupted!  His schedule does give us some good quality time in the morning before Callie wakes up.  He always has some silly faces for me!

Time for Shots!

I cannot believe that Cade is 2 months old already.  With all of the other chaos going on in our lives, time really has flown by.  I took Cade to the doctor last week for his 2 month appointment.  Poor child had to get 3 shots!  He really did well, though.  His wind up to the cry was actually worse than the crying.  He only cried for about a minute.  So proud of my little man!  And I don't know why I call him little man - he is definitely not little.

June 26
Weight - 13 pounds 10 ounces - 88th percentile
Height - 23 1/2 inches - 84th percentile
Head Circumference - 16 - 73rd percentile

Cade has a ton of gas that really upsets his stomach and can make him pretty fussy.  He does not have colic, but he may have reflux.  It was the worst between 3 weeks and 8 weeks, but it has been getting better the past 2 weeks.  The doctor suggested trying probiotics and antacids in his bottle.  At 9 weeks, Cade started taking formula and that has not seemed to affect his gas too much, but he definitely seems more satisfied after eating.

And he eats alot!  At 8 weeks, he was eating 4 ounces every 3 hours, except in the night.  He would go to be around 11 or 11:30 and sleep until 4 or 5.  Then I would feed him, put him back to bed, and he would sleep until 8 or 8:30.  Although I do not like to get up at 4 or 5 in the morning, I am very grateful that he only gets up once in the night!

Now (at 10 weeks) he is moving to eating every 3 1/2 hours and he usually gets 5 ounces in each bottle.  We put him to bed at 10:30 and he sleeps until 5 on a normal night.  I normally just give him the pacifier and he goes back to sleep until 7 or 8.  Every now and then though he is starving when he wakes up and I will feed him.

Cade is really not a good napper unless he is in the carseat.  I guess he is so used to being out and about with Callie that he likes to nap in the carseat.  When we are home and I put him in the bed for a nap he only sleeps about 45 minutes.

He has started smiling and cooing.  I think I even have heard a laugh or two!

He is not as fussy anymore and is a much happier baby.  He can follow you as you move back and forth in front of him.  Cade definitely knows Bryan's voice and my voice.  When he hears us, he always turns his head in our direction.

But without a doubt, Callie is his favorite person.  Every morning Cade and I go wake up Callie and they have some brother-sister time on the bed.  It is so sweet!  Callie will talk to him and give him a kiss, and he has such big smiles.  I love that precious time with them.

He also loves bath time.  Bryan usually gives him a bath before bedtime to help keep him awake.

Cade has started having some tummy time.  He doesn't love it, but he usually stays there for a few minutes without crying.  He is very good at holding his head up and has some pretty strong neck muscles.

Love my CadeMan!
